About Us

The Ibn Sina Institute of Tibb, was established in 1997 to promote the training and practice of Tibb in South Africa. Tibb is also known as Unani-Tibb which translates to Greek Medicine. To ensure the training of Tibb is in keeping with international standards, the Institute is academically supported by Hamdard University Pakistan, Jamia Hamdard University, Aligarh University, National Institute of Unani Medicine, and the Central Council for Research for Unani Medicine, from India.

In 2001, the Institute facilitated the recognition of Unani-Tibb with the Allied Health Professions Council of South Africa. This council regulates the training and practice of Complementary and Alternative Medicine modalities including amongst others Homeopathy, Chiropractic, Ayurveda, Chinese medicine, and Naturopathy.

For more than twenty years, the Institute has worked tirelessly in the development and training of this comprehensive and holistic system of medicine, including the training of Tibb doctors at the University of the Western Cape’s; School of Natural Medicine, established in 2003.

Aware of the growing dissatisfaction and the lack of a holistic approach of Western medicine, the Institute has developed this Tibb Healthy Living e-learning Programme.

Meet the team that will be responsible for your journey of empowerment through Tibb.
